Super major top cover

Post by thebottomshed »

I have the top cover off and upside down on the ground. I am trying to free the unloading valve but so far have not been able to remove it from the casting. I have removed the two retaining plates either end of the casting which hold in the control valve.

Should this unloading valve slide out when the retaining plates are removed or is it retained in some other way ? The front end is threaded I have put a stud in but no movement. any help appreciated.

The unload valve is behind the threaded plug. You need to draw the plug out, then CAREFULLY tap the unload valve out from the back. Do not attempt to drive the plug out from the back as this will permanently damage the valve.

I pulled mine with a bolt, some washers and a socket that fitted over the plug.

Clean the valve with metal polish to remove any rust, do not use wet and dry or emmery paper.

Thanks Brian, It worked a treat, I'm polishing the valve right now, it was not very corroded so I hope that was the problem, we'll see when I get it back together.
