Hi
Just been flicking through the classifieds in the latest Ford & Fordson Tractors mag, and came across the V8 Perkins Major.
I've never seen one in person, has anybody. Do the V8's bolt straight up, or do they need an adapter plate of some sort? What other work is needed to make it fit, ie. clutch/gearbox, front axle, etc.
Just asking!!!!!!!!!! :D

You have got that look in your eye Kev  Its the thought of those twin chrome straight through stacks belching black

Still I suppose I was young once!!

It looks nice when it is done properly but some are just bodged in, just to say they have a V8 Major. I still think that the best one was the Merlin powered one

Yes you would need an adaptor plate etc.

they made a v8 that fitted in d series tractor units.
If you could source one it should bolt straight in, with maybe a bit of work to line up engine mounts and sump

I'll bet that sounds just like my Nuffy. The exhaust broke in half today whilst I was rotovating and I chopped it up  More expense! The new sprayer I bought yesterday worked like a dream after a few minor jobs after tea last night. Suddenly realised last night that being 12m, it is exactly half the width of the one I was working on Tuesday.

Thanks Guys
They look like nice conversions, but they also look front heavy.
I'll just stick with my 1966 industrial engine thats works just fine.
Thanks
