Seal PTO- Rear transmission

Post by Gubbels »

I have made the gadgets to install the double lipped seal between the PTO and the rear transmission.

When I tried to install the seal I noticed that the axle where the seal should be is about 52 to 55 mm in diameter (could not measure properly because the shaft is in the PTO housing) instead of the Ø45mm which I can find in Henk's drawing. Is this possible?

I would be very happy with the right sizes. Please give them to us.

yesterday I was looking on the internet for the oil seal, now i have seen that there are two different sizes seal. 2.125 inch (53.975mm) inner diameter (http://www.fixthatford.com/index.php?ma ... 37_369_383) and 44,5mm inner diameter (http://www.histoparts.com/oscom2/catalo ... ts_id=1563). they have both the same outer diameter of 88.9mm. I Ordered the bigger seal and now I hope it will fit.

Gubbels,

HP has the other one to. It's 9mm thick. They say to use two of them.
Could there be two shaft diameters?
Kind regards, Henk

There are three seals.

E1ADKN 7297A .. double lipped seal .. 1952 to June 1963.
E1ADKN 7297B .. single lipped seal .. 1952 to June 1963, These seals are only supplied in pairs and have to be fitted back to back with the lips in the directions to seal trhe oil.

E1ADDN 7297 .. Seal used from June 1963.

The shaft/gear changed in June 1963, looks like it was a replacement part so you could find the seal/shaft problem in tractors of all ages. The bearings remained the same.
