Belt pulley does not fit

My power major came without a belt pulley, I have purchased one and replaced bearing and seals. Today I was trying to bolt the pulley and the gearbox housing and I noticed that the pulley gear wheel is to big in diameter (see the picture)
Are there different pulleys for a Major or can I replace the gear wheel?

I am not sure if there are different gears on the pulleys but try angleing the pulley so that part of the gear fits in that notch on the top right of the hole. I havent changed a pulley for about 10 years but think that has something to do with it. the gear kind of feeds in to the hole instead of going in square. let us know how you get on.

Gubbels,
I want to do the same job next year. Please send me the seal and bearing measurements.

Tomorrow I will give it a try, thanks for the info super6954.
@henk: I will look for the sizes, but I don't know for sure if I wrote them down and the old ones are already gone.

I tried to fit the belt pulley the way super6954 said, and it is in.
It's not bolted in yet, does anybody knows how much "play" it must have in the gear wheels?
regards,
Gubbels

My manual says that there should be 1/8 inch of play at the rim of the pulley in addition to the amount already there in the drive coupling. You adjust the play for the additional 1/8 inch by adding or subtracting gaskets between the pulley housing and the transmission case(usually 1 to 3 are needed). Good luck!
