Hi there are 4 brake discs on a super major 2 on each side. if you are going to re line old discs you need 8 linings as there are 2 linings on each disc.

Hi I just looked at the picture and something is wrong there. Every fordson super major i have ever owned or worked on had 2 discs in each brake side. I have 3 at the moment .

Could I just ask have you taken it apart and looked or just going by the parts picture? If you have and only found one disc Please remember some Farmers are resourcefull at saving money and it may not have been fixed properly at some point in its life.. working for farmers fixing tractors I should know nothing Suprises me any more.
That System needs the 2 discs to operate correctly as the discs are pressed out by the expander in the middle against 4 surfaces that do not rotate with the discs.
with only one disc it will probably make funny grinding sounds and be impossible to get the adjustment correct with out messing up all the expander springs!

That drawing does not show the complete brake. There are two discs, one either side of the actuator, otherwise there is a big space and the actutor won't touch the remaining disc.

I would suspect someone had sticking brakes, a common problem with all tractors fitted with this system and to remove a disc cured it.
