Yes, the original badges were chromed brass, just like the radiator grills and header tank of a Rolls Royce
Way back then, I had no money, (some things do not change over the years
) so I painted them orange to keep the weather out. This paint has lasted since 1976.The other day, whilst looking around Halfords, I saw a tin of spray chrome enamel and I thought that it might be time to try it on the badges. I took them off and cleaned the paint off back to the brass, I then sprayed them.
I do not think they have come up too bad, there is a slight bit of corrosion on one that has shown through but I am quite impressed.
I will try it on some headlamp reflectors and report back.
Wish I had had this when I was 30 years younger! I would have done the exhaust and manifold!
