Just wonderring whether anyone has ever had problems following re-assembly of the PTO lever assembly. Before we stripped this unit apart, the lever was quite slick in engaging / disengaging. However, having re-assembled it, it is extremely difficult to engage.
Someone in the workshop suggested it may need a shim on the selector side plate ??.
Any Ideas ???
Thank You,
Neil

I have never had problems like that with shims. I am thinking that they have a ball and spring in them as a detent on the selector rod to lock it in gear. its been a while since I did one. By some chance they have not lost the ball when taking it apart or re assembling it I know these kind of things can be a pig to get out and back in without loosing them
. Maybe the spring end is binding in the groove on the shaft?.

Just to update this post, have now cracked the problem. It turned out to be the selector fork being slightly bent from having been previously forced when it was wrongly fitted on first assembly.
Having applied heat, we were able to straighten it and it engages / disengages perfectly.
Just in time for the Cromhall Flower show this Saturday (because someones bound to want us to demonstrate the lift arms !!!)
