Camshaft thrust washer

Post by Roadless63 »

I have been looking at a super major which has been sat around for a while, a previous owner decided to strip the front off the engine in order to change the bearings on the auxillary drive. He somehowgot it out without dropping the oil pump (to clear rear bearing) and then lost interest and it sat for 10+yrs before I got it.
Since it was otherwise remarkable original I thought it was worth finishing the job!
I obtained a new bearing & seal kit for the shaft, cleaned up the face of the block and dropped the front axle to remove sump then oil pump.
Then I noticed the thrust washer on the front of the camshaft was not as complete as it should be, one end has broken off.
The question is, where can I get a new one, agriline dont seem to list one, anyone got any suggestions?
I havent tried ringing round places yet but thought I'd save a lot of hassle and get a few ideas on here first!
Thanks
Ed

These seem to be like rocking horse do do to find, no-one seems to reproduce them. Pulled another engine down but it had single bolt cam which doesnt have a seperate washer, uses the front engine plate to hold cam in.
Anyone got one on a shelf they dont need?
here's hoping!

Have you tried Southern Counties Tractor Spares?

The"in service" fix was to convert to a single bolt fixing cam shaft by fitting a new front mounting plate, shaft and gear.
Fordson Tractor Pages, now officially linked to: Fordson Tractor Club of Australia, Ford and Fordson Association and Blue Force.
