Fordson Super Major Tachometer Questions

Hi, My husband and I have a Fordson tractor with the serial number of 1612966 on the block. We believe this corresponds to a Super Major built in July of 1961. Would this be correct?

Also, we are having trouble locating a new tachometer cable for it because... when the tractor company recently rebuilt the motor for us, they changed the original part that the tachometer cable attached to, to a different size, so that now the cable requires that the two ends on the cable are the same (as opposed to one larger and one smaller originally). Any suggestions on how to fix/adapt/adjust the tachometer cable and what size cable to get?

Also, are new gauges available for this tractor?

They will have the parts you need. You are corect on the build date, This means you should have an early super with the vacuum governd injector pump, meaning you will want the clockwise Power/Super tach, and I'm guessing youl need the 5267 cable.

If anybody has a np Super with tacho drive from rear end of injection pump, you should be very carefull to hv the correct cable.

Standard inner cable will destroy the axial bearing of tachometre, because the inner wire rotates counter clock wise with Minimec and normal way twined inner cable tries to push itself into the instrument, instead of pump end. CNH cable and maybe also from Agriline are twined correctly.
