Super major rear crank seal

Post by liam »

Hi,
I have a super major that is leaking at the rear crank seal and I hope to replace it in the next few days.
My question is does the new modern rope seals have to be soaked in oil first before fitting?
When I do fit it, how much of the seal do I leave protruding before assembly.
Thanks in advance.

I would oil it well rather than soak the modern ones. You need to leave about 2mm on each end.

To change the clutch shaft oil seal at gearbox end is also a good idea.
