From a post from "Yesterdays Tractors" , that distributor caps for Fordson Major's E1As 1951-64 with spark ignition are available at
www.gsparkplug.com Listed as Lucas DDB163, 415298, 408369. Can any one verify that this is correct? I thought I should post this on FTP due to the problems other people in the past in trying to obtain distibutor caps for their TVO/petrol Major's.

It would be great if they were available. We did think they were the same as the Mk1 Land Rover but they are not.
There are also two distributors that Ford used. The one on Henrietta is different from the one fitted to Steven B's Major. So check the Lucas number on the inside of the cap before ordering.

On my 52 E1ADKN, the distributor is stamped DM4 40275A. I got help from a guy called the Distributor Doctor here in the UK (
www.distributordoctor.com) and he supplied a complete set-up for me. The Lucas part numbers are:
Rotor arm - 408355
Points - 419398
Condenser - CI 423871
Distributor cap - 418659
Hope this helps ...

Humblest apologies all - Brian, you are right (as usual) - closer inspection has revealed that the correct number for the cap is 418859.
Sorry if I've caused any confusion - should have gone to SpecSavers (which I guess won't mean a darned thing to our many overseas cousins!).
