I have a Super Major which has developed a fault. It was fine when it drove into my barn several months ago but now the implement lift lever in the quadrant on the RHS is stuck at the bottom. It will move approx 5 deg then stops, no matter how hard I try to pull it. The hydraulics work as the 5 deg is enough to operate the lift arms, but as soon as I let go of the lever the arms drop.
I have lifted the rear cover off today but cannot see anything obvious.
Help please!

If it can break don't give it to me!
Try moving the little lever from down to up or the other way, it may be the internal linkage is stuck. If you have the top off, you should be able to see where it is jamming.

Thanks Brian,
The lift lever and the smaller selector lever seem to turn together.
Pull the lift lever up until it stops (approx 5 deg) and the selector lever drops a little. The spool valve opens and the arms will rise. The arms drop as soon as you let go of the lever.
Push the selector lever down from its lowest position (it can travel a few degrees) and the lift lever rises. The spool valve opens and the arms will rise as before.
I could not see any obvious binding. From what I can see the lift lever would appear to do two things. The first few degrees pushes a rod which opens a spool valve. It can only travel so far until the 'knock-off' pin hits the pump housing. The remaining 85 deg controls the height of the lift. So there must be an inner and outer shaft to the lift lever? Can the problem be that these are rusted together??

Tony you could really do with a semi retired ex Doe man. I wonder how much some of the younger 'technicians' will know? We have a former Rochford man working in this area (and his brother) but not sure if he would travel that far. If you don't have any luck drop me line on here and I will put you in touch.

Re: Hydraulic lift lever problem
Just a heads-up on this problem. As I could not strip the lift lever shaft I managed to find a local chap to do it. As I suspected, the inner and outer parts were rusted together and required a lot of force to seperate them. This is why the lever would only rotate a few degrees. Its all back together again and seems to be working fine.
