Starting issues (again)

Hi guys. Had this starting problem with my major, it turned over and over and eventually started but ran fine when warm. So i took the injectors out and had them re-conditioned. Put them back in, and it starts slightly better but still not like it should. All this is mind, the engine has just been re-built aswell.
Now heres the thing. The cold start button is broken, doesnt do a thing. Will it have a dramatic effect on how it starts or should it start without it?
Also when i start it now, it wont start with the throttle lever down, you have to push it all the way down then pull it up to idle, then eventually it starts.
Confused? I am

It is important that you get the cold start button fixed. It really helps with starting a cold engine. Dandy Dave!

Well, i managed to find another fuel pump in a mates garage, so i nicked the excess fuel/stop thing that goes on the end of the pump.
It now starts on the button from cold when using the excess button, which i am very pleased with!
The problem with the old excess, was the spring that moves the little boot inside to allow the rack to move further had snapped, so when you pushed the button in nothing moved.
It still smokes a bit when cold, but im hoping this will decrease a bit when the engine is properly run in...... :D

Nick,

Glad you found the problem. Can you start it without theuse of the cold start button?
Find an other spring and give the rebuild one to your friend.

The fresh engine may start a little hard and use a little oil at first as this is normal, it will get better after you put a few hundred hours on it. Dandy Dave!

Henk, it will start without the coldstart button, but it takes a long time.

Dave, Im hoping to run it in over the summer, and i was thinking it would probably get better with a bit of use.
