Power Major Fuel Problems

I am having some Fuel issues with my Power Major. I recently replaced the fuel tank because it had so many holes in it that i leaked more fuel than I used. The tractor ran fine before I replaced the fuel tank. The tank that I put on it was sandblasted, cleaned and then treated with POR15, So I am 99% sure that the problem is not the fuel tank. Right now the tractor will run for about 5 to 15 minutes then dies and wont restart unless I re-bleed the fuel line. I have tried draining the tank, cleaned out the petcock, cleaned the sediment bowl and cleaned out the fuel filter. Its almost like air is getting into the system or the tractor isn't getting enough fuel. Unfortunately the tractor is on my recreational land which is about 300 miles from me. I am going back up there next week with a new fuel filter, but would appreciate any suggestions on what is going on or what to look for while I am there.

I would check to see that your fuel cap is venting . It needs to let air in to replace the fuel that goes out. The next time the engine quits, loosen the cap and listen for a vacuum sound.

You could have an air leak on the fuel lift bowl. The seal goes after a while.

Im with JC, my grandad was telling me the other day that an old morris 1800 he had come into his garage once, had died and wouldnt restart. Turned out the fuel tank wasnt venting, and it had actually sucked the fuel tank in and he had to pressurise it with an air line to push it back out again! If the tank has a thick layer of paint on it, it may be sealing too tight, i assume you used the same fuel cap?

Thanks for the ideas. I ordered and received a new fuel filter, a glass bowl seal and fuel pump repair kit. I am hoping that one of the three do the job.

First, be sure you have a good fuel flow out of the tank, and go from there. Dandy Dave!
