Where can I buy fuel injection pump parts

Post by 1962 model »

Hello all,
I have dismantled my fuel injection pump ( making sure not to change any settings )
I need a new rack shaft and bushes, also new pneumatic governor valve & linkage.

I seem to recall that these parts are available but have not been able to locate them now I need them.

Can anyone please refer me to a supplier of these parts?

Mike

Mike,
You cannot service an injection pump without the proper tools for setting and a completely dust proof room for dismantling and reassembly. It does no good to remember the settings as these will change as soon as you add new parts.

If you rebuild the pump without the correct tools, you stand a good chance of terminally damaging your engine. The pump is the only part of the tractor that I would advise specialist repair. I would not work on my own and I have the qualifications to do so, but have no facilities.

Your best bet would be to pick up a good second hand pump.

Thanks Brian,
You are right that changing the rack shaft will change the settings.
I was trying to get a usable injection pump to get my 590E going but have given up on that pump in favor of buying two more complete engines that seem to have usable injection pumps so far.

I have changed the cam bearings on my 4cyl Power Major previously with no ill effectts, it has been running 20 years now and hasn't destroyed the engine. ( sounds sweet and even with normal power )

When I replaced the bearings I kept things as clean as possible and did not dismantle any of the fuel elements or swap any of the cam followers, so all the settings did not change except for some slight wear perhaps.

This injection pump is in better order than some I have seen on running engines!

The first thing I do with any aquired engine is check that the injection pump has oil, sadly most do not!
