Hydraulic lift position

Post by atkiman »

Hi

Having a bit of trouble with the rear lift arms on my Super Major.
The tractor was used only with the front loader so the rear arms were seized. The loader is now removed and a trailer tipping pipe connected to accessory port.

Managed to get the arms freed, but they will only raise in the very highest point on the quadrant control. If the quadrant lever is any less than around 7/8 of the way up, the arms do not raise. The top 1/8 of the lever travel allows the height of the arms to be set. The bottom 7/8 of the lever doesn't seem to do anything, even if the speed lever is pushed to "fast" Also there is no pressure to the tipping pipe unless the lever is at least 7/8 of the way up.
It makes no difference where the draft lever is set
The arms are holding up overnight (but they are still a bit sticky) The oil level on the dipstick is at max.

I'm thinking I need to remove the top, but any ideas on what to look for. Thanks.

If you are getting the same result in Position and Draft I would agree that you are going to have to take the top off and reset the lift. Also check the Position Control cam roller.

The setting details are on the Wiki, access from the "Misc" forum or from the main page. Code to get in is "fordsontractorpages" and "dotty", sorry about that but in the past we have had people adjusting the information there.
