Hi all
My name is Greg, new to the forum, recent Fordson owner.
I have a 56 Major Diesel, serial number and casting codes indicate July Manufacture.
I am currently repairing the rear lift, the control would not move.
I disassembled, found some rust, water and the ram gland needs replacing.
Waiting for gland to show up.
She needs a few more things, some hoses need to be replaced,
some are routed strangely, in one of the pic you can see a hydraulic hose running between the brake peddles.
and other items need attention.

Got her loaded, you cant see in the picture but the trailer tires not looking good under the weight.
I was quite worried about making it 50 miles back home.

Made it home and unloaded safely, took back roads slowly.

Welcome aboard Matey! :D Aaaaahhhhrrrrrr, A fine looking land yatch ye have there. Keep her where the land lubbers roam matey, as she not be floating so well where water is concerned. Harrr, Harrr, harrrr.

Looks like the loader is driven off of the PTO. I see it also has two remote hoses off of the back. I could see where they would be useful for a dump trailer. Looks to be in fairly good condition for a 50 plus year old machine. The only thing I see is that you will loose power to the loader when you push in on the clutch if it is single stage equiped. Have you determined if the clutch is two stage, or single stage yet? Dandy Dave!

It is a single stage. And the loader is currently a trip bucket, thinking of modifying adding second set of rams
I have used the remote hoses on a JD 3 bottom pull behind.

Single stage, sort of what I thought. It should pull a 3 bottom plough with ease. Dandy Dave!

Would a belt driven pump be sufficient to operate the loader?
Has anyone added a belt driven pump before?

A belt driven pump would do a lot of slipping. Many loaders are shaft driven off of the front harmonic ballance, or pulley. You would most likely have to make something up as the convertion parts to connect to the pulley are made from unobtainium. The good thing about driving it from the front is that you would then have live hydraulics. Dandy Dave!
