Hello everyone,
can anyone tell me when the front wheels changed from the cast wheels with the bolt on caps to the cast wheels with the the screw on caps like the Australian Super Major?
( these wheels seem to be different to the English and American ones? )

I have both types of wheels here and E 27 N, New Major, Power Major and Super Major models, I would like to sort out which goes where as they have been swapped over the years.

If I was to guess I would think that the last of the ( Orange wheel ) E 27 N and the first of the ( red wheel ) New Majors may have had the bolt on caps, but I could be wrong, as I have some screw on cap ones that are Orange?

Any information please?

Mike

Mike,

E27N's used the three bolt cap right up until their last year, when they changed to the screw on cap. E27N's also used a narrow and a wide front wheel, however, both used the 7.50x16 tyre. The next wheel used was the screw cap without the three holes, followed by the screw cap with three holes in the rim. Also available, in three bolt and screw cap was the 20 inch rim that used the 7.50x20 tyre.

Orange wheels were used up until the New Major Kero went out of production. Diesels used red wheels from the P6 through until 1963. The odd one out was South Australia who used yellow wheels on the P6's.

Back wheels was something different as every State seemed to have their own version. That relates to the E27N only.
