Hi all.
I just bought a Forson Power Major. It starts right away but with a lot of smoke. I think it could be due to excess fuel since the cold start button doesnt work and also it wont stop since what I think is the pump rack is stuck. It does not move a millimeter if I pull it. What should I do first?. Should I take off the plate from the Simms pump ?. Thanks for your help. Salvador.
Bottom line, the rack gets rusty and sticks. I pulled the "Simms" cover off and took apart the fuel shut off assymbly. (I also checked the vacuum governor but be careful you don't let it "blow apart" and lose the check ball) cleaned and lubed it and all is working well.
Hello CaptainD51.
Problem solved, you were right. I took off the plate and found the rack stuck and also plunger #2 was stuck. Now the engine is working OK and no more smoke. Thank you for your help. Salvador.
