Fordson Super Major with double acting ram control, tractor unused for years - lift arms locked in raised position - how to get them to lower?

Two reasons for the arms to stick up:
1. Mechanical. Lift shaft bushes seized. Lift arm retaining bolts too tight. Answer is crude.

Heat and Hammer. Lots of soaking in diesel or PlusGas, forget WD40. You may need to remove the lift and use a press to get the lift shaft out and it will only come out one way.
2. Hydraulic. 95% certain it will be the unload valve stuck, this means lift removal but not a difficult job. Go to the Wiki on this site, from either the Home Page or the "Misc" forum header, use "fordsontractorpages" and "dotty" to get in, there is an article with pictures on Super Hydraulics which may help.
Hang on to the DAR Valve, they are the Fordson equivalent of Rocking Horse Manure!
