just when I thought it was going well!

Well I got my Grandads old Super going after rebuilding the bottom end and head. It is running sweet as a nut. Fitted a second hand Horndraulic loader to help empty a horse muck pit. It was all working so well. I then had to replace the wheel bearings on the front as you could see the wheels wobble when driving it. Still it was working fine. Then today my Grandads using the tractor turning the steering wheel (stationary at the time) and the steering box on it cracked into two. Oh well here I go again. I was thinking of buying a second hand one on ebay for the main casting and then replacing the steering column and bearings as well as the seal and bushes. Is this the best way to do it? I need to get the tracor back up and running ASAP and the only steering box I can get is of a major. I thnk the boxes are the same it's just the column thats different or am I wrong?

The column and shaft are about 2 inches shorter on a Major, everything else is the same.

Thanks for that info, I've just bought a steering box off of Ebay and am going to refurb it before I put it on the tractor, to make sure that hopefully I don't have to do the job twice.
