straight pipe

Here 's my first question after getting her running:
Until I get a better exhaust will having a straight pipe have any ill effects? What about for any other diesel ?

Glad to hear you have it running mate, good feeling when they fire up isnt it?! For my major, i have a standard exhaust which i use when on the road, but when shes working ive made up a piece of straight stainless steel pipe which i swap because (i think) it sounds awesome when under load, even though its VERY loud!

I cant imagine it can do any damage to an engine though......

Thats what I thought. I took the exhaust off and it sounds great.My cummins has no exhaust so I'm used to that loud sound.

Even with earplugs she is loud! Think I will find an exhaust.....Sitting in the Dodge with exhaust behind me is nothing like it out in front of you.
That old home heating oil stinks but I'll have it used up soon.

When you finish up the old home heating oil, you may want to install new fuel filters as in my experience, filters plug up much faster than when using straight diesel and will shut you down quick when clogged. I've never found bleeding a fuel system an enjoyable pastime!

Working on that now.The old filter was replaced with an inline but I just ordered filters from NAPA.I am hoping the base is still ok it was a little rusty on the inside.
Are you any where near Warren MA? I may be looking at a logging job there.
