Tight Engine

Am assembling my Major engine after fitting new rings. Am using existing bearing shells (main and big end)
Crankshaft was able to be rotated by big spanner quite easily. Then fitted new crankshaft seal ( asbestos type of rope, but not asbestos, soaked in oil for 3 days) to the top half housing, rotation then got tighter. Continued fitting sump, and now crankshaft needs a bar to rotate it now.
I presume this will free up with use.
Any comments welcome

Sounds OK Kev,

I tend to use moly grease on the crank and seals when I assemble but they always were tight. Henrietta is still tight after 3 years use.

Thanks for your reply.
I shall continue moving forward, and hope that the starter has enough omph to start it.
Thanks
