I'm having problems starting my FPM. I have fuel to the bleed on the injector pump but the lift pump keeps pressure and there is no fuel to the injectors. #9 in the troubleshooting guide in FO-21 indicates that the "Pump control rod" could be "stuck in closed position". I've never been inside the injector pump so:

1) Is this the same control rod that is in the diaphragm housing?

2) Is it connected in any way to the stop control lever? Just seems they are on the same plane in the pump.

3) What is the best way to "unstick" it

I think I found the answer:

Now the next question .... Can this be done on the engine or should I remove the pump first?

Yes it can be done on the tractor if access to the pump is not restricted by a loader frame or stuff like that so you can work on it comfortably . i have done quite a few Just make sure that the pump and surrounding area are really clean. If you are doing it outside try and pick a day when the wind is not blowing dust and grass/straw around as you don't want this stuff in the pump .

It is in the barn and I've cleaned off the entire area around the pump. I'll take a go at it tomorrow morning

That was it

Ran the rack back and forth while drenching the ends with WD40; cleaned up the fuel stop end with ScotchBrite as much as I could and buttoned 'er up. Immediately got fuel to all the injectors and, after tightening up the injector pipes, he started right up.
