I saw this early Super Major at a show last weekend, and the top cover and hydraulics interested me.

On the side near to the position / qualitrol lever is a brass gate valve, which had some oil dripping from it.

My similar tractor has a blanking plug in that position

Does this tapping give oil at pump pressure ?? i'm looking for a way to power a log splitter.

Second question, has anybody freed their flow control valve, and how did you do it. Force won't work the knob is plastic.

That port is really for pressure testing, it is where the gauge goes. You will only get pump pressure here by pulling the Auxiliary Service Button and "dead heading" the system, or when the lift is lifting when it will give you ram cylinder pressure.
