I passed the local scrap yard, where I found this super major in the top of the pile ...

Image

It was bought immediately because I've always wanted a super

Image
Image

And by the castings 22 july 1963 and 15 july 1963 its a NEW PERFORMANCE :buddies: there is also a FL castet on the engine

Image

But the worst part is this a connecting rod looking at the daylight  , so im going to renovate (perhaps replace) the engine :D

Image

Is it normal with 2 Levelling Boxes  and what's the extra hole in the lift arms for :?: and the double acting draft control is missing  :curse:

Image
Image
Image
Image

Is there anybody who can indentify what type of loader there was on this super

regards

Kenneth

Keneth,

You bought a lot of work.

The leveling boxes are from a New or Power Major. And normaly there's one.
The holes in the lift arm are for a pickup hitch I think.

You say that the cylinder block has FL on it, showing it as a New Performance model. The cylinder head has a decompressor lever fitted. Does the cylinder head have FL cast on it, just above number one injector. Perhaps the cylinder head has been changed ?

You have a great project, most of the tractor is there.

Hi Kenneth

If the missing block wall came out in one piece, and you have it, it could be welded back into place very successfully. If you don't have the missing piece, I fear you will have to replace the block.

Keeping it original won't be easy as the NP blocks have a fomoco badge cast into the side wall between the generator and starter motor. Ideally you would also want to get a replacement with the casting code starting 3 G to match the production dates of the gearbox, rear axle, hydraulic lid etc.

Keep an eye on ebay. NP engines do come up.

It's a fantastic tractor and well worth saving.

Good luck!

Adrian

Im pretty sure that a new performance by the serial on the engine

And there is a big FL over injector 1

Perhaps decompressor was standard i denmark is pretty cold in the winter -20 to -25 degress

The good news is that the damage is not high enough to affect the water jacket. If you have a wizard welder, you are nicely positioned to bring this lovely tractor back to life.

I've got lots of photos of the rebuild of my NP Super if you need any photographic help.

By the way the casting numbers on my tractor range from 3G10 to 3G19 and the serial number is O8C 967847. I'm not sure what the daily production was, but there's a good chance that your and my tractors were made on the same day, and certainly in the same week.

Photos of the restoration would be much appreciated.

Best wishes

Adrian

Kenneth, I'm in England. All the parts you will need for an engine rebuild are freely available. I notice the Main Control Spring Yoke is missing. I recommend keeping a close eye on ebay to find this - they are not common, but they do come up. There is currently an entire NP hydraulic lid on ebay, but it's not cheap. But as you bought your tractor for a very low price, you have a bit of leeway, financially speaking.

By the way, your hydraulic lift arms are designed to fit a trailer hitch and are relatively rare. If you don't have the trailer hitch, you might want to consider selling them to get some money back to pay for the parts you will need. The standard ones are easy to find and won't cost much.

I have just mailed with Tom from agriline and their planning a production of connection rods for fordson in about 6 to 9 months  :D

So im just waiting :buddies: before i have disasemble the engine and got it welded, they have the rods ready

i got her cleaned, most of the dirt was landing i my face :scratchhead:
Image

Is this a standart cluth pedal for a super :?:
Image

after i cleaned around the link arms the bracket did see the daylight, and the extra hole in the top ist that for the pickup hitch :scratchhead:
Image

After cleaning i slap her in the ass and promised her she will been driving again :D
Image

but if I could get hold of the old owner then I would kick him in the ass :curse: , how can you let a magnificent machine come in such a decay

What is your plan - a total refurb/rebuild, or more a rolling restoration??

a Total rebuild ... this is the dream machine :D, it dont have to be 100% original because shes going to be my working horse on the farm  , not in the field but as snow mower, wood chipper, and a lot of other small jobs :D

i found the answer for the bracket at the lift arms and is for the auto hitch, and after cleaning i found the pedal at the floor i the cabin for the hitch...

These parts im going to disamble and sell to one who is needing them

A Snow Mower. :D Sounds like a new way to get rid of snow, and keep the grass cut at the same time. I'm sure the Fordson Super can handle it with ease once you get it up and running.

I agree, you sure have your work cut out for you on this one. Someday when you get the snow mower working, it will all be worth it. Glad to see it is being saved. Dandy Dave!

hehehe :D sorry my poor english :scratchhead: but ist a snowplough i'm going to attach :D ... i'm thinking on using the frame from the frontloader to make an hydrauic A bom to fit it on

Yah there is a long way before she ready but since i was a little boy the supers was the ultimative  and i could not let them scrap this fantastic tractor  i cant think of why people do that

On the subject of scrap.... I look at it this way. Instead of buying a new tractor that has used up natural resourses to create from fire and forge we are doing our part to be "Green" by rebuilding an old one. We recycle. In doing so we save a little piece of the world. The tractor could have been dumped in a furnace and turned into something else all because less than a pound of metal is worn off of it. It would also have been one less example left in the world if it was melted down. Much better all the way around to see it saved. Dandy Dave!

I would trash the front loader, rig up a front 3-point lift and fit a front mounted snow blower on that one :)
