fordson

Post by finch »

Hi all ,I have a fordson major loads of casting codes which indicate late 50s. The problem is i cant find a engine serial no there isnt anything stamped at no 1 injector (wire brushed it and its clean) or near the starter motor .
Question is their any other place to look for a serial no, Can it be regestered to get a number plate without a serial no as i purchased the tractor to use on the beach.
And finally is the engine legal.
Any advice would be appreciated .
Thanks in advance. :scratchhead:

Try looking round the rear end, that's where I found about three on mine. :D

Finch,

Welcome.
Is or was (two holes left) there a plate on the firewall between the tank and the engine?
The stopped to use this plate. Try find the casting code on the engine behind the dynamo. Give us all the codes you’ve got.
Kind regards, Henk

Welcome to the pages!

What instruments does it have? ie. Rev counter etc. Look round the rear end and there should be a code indicating the exact date of construction. this code is 3 digits long on pre 1963's and 4 on post '63's
