Hello all, progress has been abit steady on my engine, but have now got the right thurst and bearing on the crank the problem now is some of the locking tabs that hammer up against the bolt heads are snapped at the edges.. :x (they have been on and off a few times..)

SO the question is can new ones be sourced??

one of my older mates had a look and he just said "it'll be alright"... if the bolts arnt tight the tabs wont stop it anyway...

any advice would be great :D

regaurds dan.

Locking tabs are not designed to be re-used. They are available to buy and easy to make. Given all the hard work you've put in to get to this stage, you owe it to yourself to fit new ones.

Best wishes

Adrian

ps Photos please of your hard work!

Hi Dan,

If you can find out the original Ford part number try entering it in the search function at the Sparex web site. I did that when I was looking for locking tabs for my E27N P6 and it came up with a hit on a Sparex replacement.

If you can't find the part number measure the hole diameter and the length and I can check it against the Sparex ones I have at home to see if they would fit.

Regards, Frank.

These guys look like they have a few of the hard to find parts, one of the few vendors that have the correct three point leveling boxes for the Super Majors.

This mob stock a huge and varied variety of lock washers -- www.seastrom-mfg.com/seastrom...herSearch.aspx
In the past when stuck for strip washers I've made some from slotted angle. In the UK I believe it's called Dexion.
