new oil pump

purchased a new oil pump from agriline, for super. question bieng does anyone know what the relief spring pressure is set at? and or is necessary to shim the new pump spring psessure? i hope to achieve close to #50, the motor is totally rebuilt.

Sorry, can't answer your question, Willy, but at the standard setting you'd expect to get 45-48psi with a new pump and a rebuilt engine. I've only rebuilt two engines, but both were in this range with a standard new pump.
Any photos of your tractor?

well got new pump installed, oil pressure is now about #45 to just below 50 with the gage presently on it, the is not working under a load because i have nothing fot it to do, just normal temp, am much happier with that, now if i could just figuire why it stars so pourly. thanks for the reply.

First two things I'd check are the timing and then the tappets. If these are in proper adjustment, you need to dig a little deeper and look at the injectors and fuel injection pump.

Get a load on it and run it. As the engine breaks in it will start better. It will not break in properly just Idleing around. Go to a local farmer if you need to, I'm sure he will find some work for it like disking, or pulling a drag harrow. Dandy Dave!

well i had the injectors done, but not the pump. tappets have been set, but want to reset, and timing was checked. however it is noe that time of year when it is near impossible to make it work. thanks for the info.
