hi all, im currenttly dropping the head back on my major, as we speak.

what i wanted to know was should there be any washers on the head bolts?? as when i disassembled the engine there were non present but wondered if the preivous person who had it apart may have chucked them to one side

No, No washers used on our old Fordsons. Washers are not commonly use on cast iron or steel heads in general. Dandy Dave!

im on putting the rocker on, and i had to buy 4 rotator caps as none were fitted before

do they go on the exhaust or air intake valves?? thats the question

Valve Rotors go on the Exhaust valves. Dandy Dave!

many thanks came across another problem now when to undo some of the valve cups on the rocker arms and the threads are knackered on most of them and one of the push rods was bent also ..but managed to pick up a complete rocker assemebley for a tenner cant argue with that

progress is steady, but getting it back together slowly

i have made a school boy error, as when i took the thing apart i just chucked all the bolts in tins. but now im starting to find some bolts are the wrong length and stuff as they are all mixed up! DOH!!!

has anyone else got any on going projects on the go??

I got 2 projects on the go right now got a ford f250 4x4 pickup truck with a 7.3L diesel engine im trying to get on the road.
Also doing a bare block re build on a perkins 3.152 motor for a forklift that belongs to a local ag supply company. Both are not going to well at the moment, looks like the block and head are warped on the Perk, and have no time for the truck, as the Perkins is a rush job now as they need it back urgent .
Glad your still getting on with your project it must be getting close to done

I've alway have more projects than I can get to. Started on a 955L Caterpillar track loader yesterday for a customer. Leaks anti Freeze in the oil. Water pump has been leaking, Heat exchanger most likely has pin holes. Doing the engine on a John Deere 350 gasoline Crawler for another customer. I have a John Deere A in the works for myself, It has a Block problem at the moment. http://www.fordsontractorpages.nl/phpbb ... f=7&t=4590 Also I have been rebuilding the trans for a 2010 John Deere Track Loader for another slow paying customer. The unit has the shuttle shift and the trans bearings and clutch packs are bad. Also have been helping a friend with a 1980 FIAT spider. Completely refubishing the car. LOL Sleep, What is that??? I do this for a living Henk. So I work on stuff. I eat. And when I'm tired, I sleep. Some of these projects I have been working on for a while. Some of the rare ones require making parts for. Some are funded as customers have finances to do so. Others, parts are readily available and go together quickly with customers that are fast to pay and fund the work. Just another day of doing business. Dandy Dave!

Welcome to the world of self employment. It has it ups and downs, but is a lot better than going to a low paying going no where job everyday working around miserable and complaining people. Now that I have disclosed some of that Green and Yellow junk that I work on and take money from customers to help pay my bills, it is time to get back to our reliable old Fordson Majors. Dandy Dave!
