Iv got a fmd mk1 with a noisey gearbox and alot of vibration this is a single clutch model, iv just been given a good working order gearbox off a livedrive model my question is .. is it possible to convert a livedrive gearbox to fit on a standard clutch model what is different between the two boxes?? the casting seems to be the same at least..
thanks

I do know that the High/ low lever is reversed. Live drive, up is high gear. Low gear is down. Non live drive Low is up, and High is down. Dandy Dave!

Hi
Its not that simple  you need the 2 stage clutch/ release bearing and flywheel, if you don't have it you might need the main casting as your clutch through linkage might be to far forward if your tractor is about 57 back (I think that's the change year), there is not room for the double clutch. you need the clutch pedal as 2 stage is longer, the control rod and pivot on the selector cover is different . you also need the 2 position stop bracket under the foot board.
If it has the old style hollow crank shaft i don't know if that will take the extra flywheel weight load without breaking. and I seem to remember you might have to change one of the locating dowels on the flywheel. early had 2 dowels the same later had 2 different size so the flywheel fitted one way for timing marks.
Like I said it's not simple and for me there are too many don't knows as I can't see what you got. :needpics:
Also what did the box come from as if it's blue grey super the pto and hyd drive gear ratio's are different so you would need the pto drop box and pump drive gears too i'm thinking.
You could be to the point that a donor tractor would be useful to get all the parts you need in one go.
It's probably 14 or more years since I did one so might have missed something else. I know it was a load of work by the time it was done
Hope some of this is useful :)
