Super major hydraulics

Hi guys I'm new here! I have 2 majors, a mk2 diesel and recently acquired late super major, one of the first with the mimec pump!

My problem is the hydraulics on the super, I have just replaced cross shaft bushes, cross shaft and piston seal, reset all the linkage as per the manual, but, when in position control they rise, come to a neutral point for a brief second and then you hear the pump working hard and pumping all the time to maintain the height. I suspect a valve but which? Also the flow control knob sometimes makes a difference with the speed of the hydraulics, but it's very hit and miss, in some positions it's faster, move it further on and the hydraulics stop completely?

Slightly confused and would be greatfull for any help!

Thanks

Matt

Update so far, have replaced control valve and bush, safety valve and reset everything as per the manual, now the hydraulics work better and trip out, but am getting bobbing, so think the check valve is a fault?! Anyone know where I can get a new one and bush?

Ok so cleaned up check valve, but no difference, hydraulics hold when aux plug is pulled out, but bobbing like mad the rest of the time? Any ideas? Could it be adjustment out on the control valve linkage? Why should they sink and correct so much? Suggests an oil leak or not? Any ideas would be great fully received!

Hi Matt , I've done 2/3 super major tops now but fortunately have only had trouble with the common stuck valve !
Have you seen this article that Brian did in wiki ? Hope that may help .

Well finally fixed the major hydraulics, cost me a lift cycliner from agriline, but came with new unloading valve and control valve, it was a bit of a desperate last measure, but it seemed that I had major oil leak that was causing the erratic corrections and sinking.
I recon the old one had an internal crack, the piston seal had been cut as it must have come out at some point and the cross shaft bushes where worn out, me things its had a sudden shock and all this wear finished it in previous ownership!
Oh we'll, engine and gearbox next.....! :D
