I went to an auction this last weekend with one of my cousins. The farm owner had apparently passed or was moving on to a nursing home and most everything was up for action from the furniture to the silo unloader. They apparently had a major on the farm at one time as I brought home a Sims injector pump and one check chain that I spotted under a bench in the old workshop. They also had three tractors there, two of them 5000’s with the select o speed transmissions, one with turbo, one without. While snooping in the shop I also found a DAR valve identical to the one’s on the 5000’s and purchased this as well. I know this subject has come up a time or two but I’m not sure if we ever got a definite answer as to whether or not these valves will work on the Super Majors. So when I got home I popped the valve off of the Super Six to compare and they have the same port configuration on them. Now I have a DAR valve for the Super Four as well.
Hi Henk. Yes it is a dual unit, it has 4 ports on it, but I only see one flow control knob on it.
Turns out the real catch was the injection pump! It had none of the ports plugged off, mud dobbers in the governor ports and the rack was tight, I assumed I was buying a core. The other day I took the cover off and it was rust free inside and the rack moved a little, I took the governor cover off and found the little tapered shaft was stuck in the fitting in the cover, now the rack moved fine. Cleaned it up looked it over good and decide to try it on the Power Major, Its pump is quite wimpy anyway. We bolted it on, spun it over with the injector lines off for a while to give it a little flush, connected the line and it fired rite up, and it’s the best it has ever run! I don’t even have to hit the clip to start it cold! Turns out to have been a great weekend for me.
