Nice Major you picked up, it looks like its all there and in good shape yet.

Nice tractor with the typical German fenders and the drawbar. Is that a Fritsmeyer cab?
Never seen a badge like that before.
Kind regards, Henk

From the technical point of view, the tractor is in very god shape. The 4.4oo h on the clock seem to be true, even the pin in the german style drawbar is original.

The badge was the reason for me to ask the diffrence between Power Majors and other versions. To me, it looks like this is not a Power Major :? Serial number is 150xxxx, year 1959 should be true.
Next irritating pice are the front rims: they are made out of steel, not the usual cast rims.

The wide Fenders seem to be original, but they have a pour steel and paint .

The rear lights look like a French Version to me. I got no papers with the tractor, so I don´t know the whole story.

Hi Broadspeed,

until I bought that tractor, I have never seen a loader with reverse cylinders 8) I found a couple pictures in the net.
The loader works, just one cylinder is leaking.
Funny thing about the hydauliks, it was made out of steelpipe we jused to juse for waterpipes in buildings. Gues those were never made for presures up to 180 bar

Don't need one. I have a Sirocco coat and so called head.
The person who had to sit in the fender seat had to be very smal.
Are these fenders still needed by German regulations?
Kind regards, Henk

I have to agree. The badge is different than what I have seen. Australia produced a Farm Major that also had a similar badge as the Power Major. You tractor has the gages in the dash which is like the Power Major. It should have shoe and drum brakes also to be a power. Could be an ASP tractor also. You will need to get the casting codes off of some of the parts to decode it. The year is in the right range for a Power Major. My Power Major has pressed steel wheels also. Often tractors for export did to save on shipping costs. Dandy Dave!

Today, nowbody realy cares about the size of fenders. Just new trctors at roadspeed above 40 km have to cover the whole tire.

Looks like my Major is quiet unique :D
When I got it, I wanted to replace the fenders right away. But now, after checking the net up and down, Í hardly find any like these. They are in very good shape, just the outer line has to be refitted. Looks like they stay on the tractor.

The badge leaves some questions :?
What do you mean by ASP tractor?

The tractor has drumbrakes and frontwheels 7,50 x 16 ". Wich size do the cast iron ones have?

ASP = All Spare Parts
which means it's made up from parts from various different Fordson Major tractors.

My pressed wheels are also 750-16. They are correct for Majors Shipped here to the States and other places away from the UK and Europe. Your tractor may have been Shipped to, say, Austrailia, (Or even built there.) at one time and then bought and shipped to your area used as these tractors were very popular and desirable machines back in the day. Hi Pascal,

first I wanted to give the fenders to the trash.
But after looking round the net, I see how unique they are. They will be straightened and refitet.
Even the rearlights and front lights are available as spareparts :D

Hi Dave,
there is a funny storie about that badge.

It is the dealer badge who sold the tractor in Bavaria in 1959.

Jacob Demmel
Attenkirchen near Freising
Phone 227

is about all that is writen on. I try to post a better photo soon.

Yesterday I found another Major in the net and by the shape I realized it was the same dealer badge, my Major has.
I made a phonecall, and a 74 yaear old man told me, he did work for more than 20 years for the dealer 8)

The dealer was general importer for whole Bavaria and they had a contract to sell 365 tractors a year

So he could not tell me where my tractor was working. It seems the machine was used in hop planting, mainly with the loader.

We have harvest time right now, so there is not much time to restore the Major.
After a breakdown on our feeder tractor, I put the Major in front of the feederwagon to feed 150 head of cattle .
Works out really fine 8)

county654,
Looking at the mudguards of your fordson reminds me of a fordson super major around here. It has a front axle from a david brown and fenders from a deutz tractor. I have seen it on the road yesterday, but I failed to take any pics because I have left my phone!!!!

Thanks guys,
for the nice reactions 8)

Actually I have not been ploughing on our farm for the last 20 years.

But this is really fun.

A neighbour has about 8 acres, to plough in the next week or two, I think I give the Major a try
