Major Oil leak
Got a Major in at the moment with oil leaking from the back end of the sump when the engine is running (coming from the leak hole with the cotter pin in) is it more likely to be the rear crank oil seal? Rather than the sump seal?

Re: Major Oil leak
Would be either the rear crank seal or the seal for the input shaft for the gearbox.

Re: Major Oil leak
If the oil is black, it's engine oil, meaning the crankshaft rope seals need replacing. If it's not black, then as Frode says, gearbox input seal or less likely the primary gearbox housing gasket has failed.

my npm was doing the same i was sure it was the crank seal but you have to take the sump off to do the bottom half of the seal so you need a sump gasket anyway, remember to trim the crank seal so the protrosin is right
