Hello when running my fordson power major I have a small but constant oil leak from the spool valve. It comes out of a small hole as seen in picture should there be anything in there or is there a seal need replacing. Any help would be appreciated

Hi, I might be wrong, as your photo only shows the front of the control lever body, but it looks like the drilling for the control lever pivot, which goes through the body. That shaft has grooves at each end and a seal sits in each groove. The seals can be replaced, but it is easy to pinch them and damage them on reassembly. As I am more a Super Major person and it is a long time since I "played" with a Power Major hydraulics, my memory is not that good on how to remove the lever from its body. I think you can remove the control lever body from the valve body by undoing the 3 inner screws and a piston valve appears along with the lever return spring and cam roller. After detaching the lever link from the piston valve, you undo the 4 screws which separates the cover from the body and you should find the lever end of the linkage. There is a square headed screw to remove, which I think is lockwired and then pull the shaft from the body to find your 2 seals. Best bet is to see what it says in the Repair Manual, if you have access to one, as there is nothing worse than something pinging off into the rafters and you don't even know what it was. Failing that, I am sure someone else will have a good diagram and the correct procedure to follow. Good luck! Tim E

Mine has only one o-ring at the side of the lever..
The hole on the front as seen in the picture is sealed with a pressed part. I think it's aluminium.

had the same thing with rusty changed the lever for one which had the rod right through and an o ring each end since then no leaks
