power major charging problems

Hello whilst running my power major there is no charge I read some posts and cleaned the dynamo inside and checked to see if it would spin like a motor. Which it does well. Then I cleaned the regulator inside. The points were green and dirty. But now when I connect the battery it sparks like the terminals are the wrong way round. Is there anything I could of adjusted in the regulator?

Bet you have reversed the polarity of the dynamo with your test. Fit the dynamo to the tractor but do not connect the wires. Then run a wire from your output terminal on the battery to the small terminal on the dynamo and just touch it a couple of times. It may spark but then its job done. Connect up all the wires and check.

Hi,
my parts dealer told me, regulators are changed completely when not in order, but I repaired mine. Look here

It's a bit tricky to adjust, but seems possible. Search Google for "Lucas RB108 voltage adjust". These regulators are in a lot of british vehicles.
It's impossible to see the contacts working, they are too fast for your eyes. You need a voltmeter to control the voltages.
