Post by drz400 »

My Dowty Coupling Leaks and I am going to order a new one from Agriline but I am unsure which is the correct size.

Please could someone confirm for me. Thank You.

The overall diameter is just over 3/4" at the threaded section.

It will be 1/2 inch.

There are two types of Dowty coupling listed by Sparex. "MF" and "Exacta"
I fitted the male "MF" type to my Major, but there was a small leak when the McConnel digger was working, the inside of the female Dowty on the McConnel was stamped "Exacta" so I changed it to a "MF" type from Malpas. I don't know if it was just that the Exacta coupling was old and leaky, or if there is a small difference in sealing surfaces, but no more leaks now.

Maybe have a look at the female side you are going to use and see if it is stamped. Note the "MF" type didn't have anything stamped on it.

Hi,
I reuse an old thread, because the heading says it all.
I think my coupling is different from the one above.
Here it is:
Image

outer diameter is about 35mm,
inner (the part that is pressed inside is about 15mm
and the pipe behind is 13mm

Is this this the male part? Is this the 1/2" BSP version (the bigger one)? The thread was 13/inch, if I got it right.
I saw an adaptor at sparex (http://v2.ir.sparex.com/ItemDetails/Ite ... mber=13338, will it fit my coupling?
Is there any sealing between the couplings?

Hi Peter,
do you Need the "dowty" coupling?
If not, take it off and replace it with the female quick release typ. It is cheaper and there is one coupling less to cause problems.

Hi Matthias,
I want to leave it for originality reasons. If it starts making trouble it comes off.
