Hi there
I am currently restoring a Fordson Power Major 1958 And i have a questions regarding it.
Currently my tractor has light fromt wheels (16" similar to a Ford 4000) I know That the Power Major Origionally had three spoke cast iron wheels, but were any power majors sold with the newer type , or should i look for a set of originals.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated
Thanks alot RobertE40

Hi
Welcome to the forum and to the world of restoring Fordsons :)
6.00x 19 cast rims was standard on a power major for the home market from what I know,The 7.50x16 steel rims and tyres were an optional extra at the time. or fitted later on by owners. So both are correct Just down to your choice, if you don't need extra weight on the front, I would stick with the 7.50x16's it makes the steering lighter and the tractor not as heavy to tow round to shows and things  .
All the export new style majors that came to Canada have the pressed wheels fitted to the front. The E27N was the only one that came over here with cast 4 spokes so never see the new majors on cast here from new, but I do have a set of 3's sitting in the shed, I exported with me in 2000 when I came here :) .
Regards Robert

Thanks very much on helping me out I still would be interested eventually in putting the threes on the major although finding it hard sourcing them in Ireland

There seems to be two types of 3 hole wheels. Put a straight edge across the dust ring on the inner side of the wheel. Measure down to the bearing casting. I've seen two dimensions for this. Early Supermajor and late Supermajor perhaps. Not sure if they both fit on the same kingpins. Anybody know any more information ?

Same back here with my PM. Pressed steel is original.
