I have the late model Super Major (1964), and would like to change the hydraulic pump. I have a pump from the earlier model. Are they similar, except for the different drive gear?

I had the pump out last year and changed the gaskets, but the other day it lost the power again. I have to rev the engine quite a lot to lift an empty frontloader.

I belive I have read somewhere that an o-ring in the hydraulic system is of no use and can be removed. Don't remember which one, or am I wrong? Could this o-ring give me the problems?

The o-ring you think about is in the unloadingvalve. I think there is a leak somewhere if adding revs helps. The unloadingvalve is an on off thing and I am not shure how it effects the hydraulic outlet.
