I'm not sure is this the way a forum works if I just keep updating or if its just to ask questions ,but I got the tractor running on her own and the new 2nd clutch is perfect the engine is running great and my brakes are working fine so its such a great feeling of accomplishment . NOW the PTO is still whining pretty bad when engaged but as with this tractor when I took it down the road there is also a whine from the axel / gearbox lol could both whines be conected ????

All major transmissions whine and rattle ,it is usually nothing to worry about .Liam .

As Liam says, there is a background whine to the transmission - it's normal. It depends on what level of noise you are hearing. The video below is of my Major pulling a plough. The PTO is engaged, so you'll hear all transmission noises. If you listen carefully, you'll hear the whine over the note of the engine. How does this compare with what you are hearing?
Best, Adrian.

Liam that's a great piece of mechanical history , oh but yours sound sweet . I've opened both oil bungs one on pto and the other on the back end very little oil / gung / semi lube white muc / some fine filings etc dropped like melting toffee came out. Ill check out the pto box and pull out PTO Shaft and see is there something obviously knackered . I kinda hope there is so I can fix it. Then ill fill it up with OIL and take it for another spin . Wearing ear plugs lol

That is Adrian ploughing ,not me .I rebuilt my gearbox with all new bearings and it is still the same ,In first and second high or low range it whines in third it has more of a rattle .I asked a local mechanic who remembered them when they were new and he said they were noisy then .If you take of the circular gear selector plate on the left hand side of the transmission you will get to see all the working of the gearbox and if there is a problem. Thanks Liam , maybe when the new oil and enough of it is put back and a clean filter, that might silence the gearbox/axel whine abit . Pto repair is still ongoing due to time constraints, if I could get it fixed is put it to work scrapping the cow yards .sorry about the mix up on the you tube video .
