If they have not been used before, I would run a tap through them to clean out 50 years of dirt :-)

3/4 UNC is supposed to be the right size.
Clean the treads.
If you are using galvanic bolts, they may also create friction

I had to make a new stud to mount my Super 6 weight last week, 3/4-10 UNC. If I remember correctly the Tool box bolts are 7/16 UNC.

Have just tapped out 54 years of crud from the Tombstone. Used a plug tap 3/4" - 10 tpi UNC.
The depth of the hole in the tombstone is 1 1/2" deep.
The problem now is to find four 3/4" unc bolts, 1 3/4" or 2" long.
The internet offers me expensive Stainless steel bolts , or bolts from the USA with about $30 shipping charge.
Anybody know of a British supplier, preferably one who will post ?

Try your local CNH dealer. Our has them all in store and not expensive

Wentin Fasteners in Yeovil stock most UNC / UNF nuts and bolts , have posted out to me before and are reasonably priced. Sounds almost like I own the business doesn`t it ?, but I don`t, just like to support them Dave
1960 Power Major, 1975 International 475 - well no ones perfect.
