Allan Condie quotes, (and please take this with a large pinch of salt because sometimes his numbers don't add up) until 1957 there had been 241545. Majors were being produced at around 40000 a year so if you add on another 30000 a year for a further six years to allow for variations in production, 180000, that would give you an estimate of 421545 of all types of Major from 1951 to 1964.
I have not come across any numbers for the Dexta range and, because of changes in the serial numbers it is very hard to get an estimate even from the Ford books that I have, however I do know that there were 4000 petrol Dextas made of which I have now got records of around 100 and still counting. Just heard of another batch in Denmark and hope to get a couple back here.
As I have quoted many times, England was producing more tractors in the 1950's and 60's than all the rest of the world added together, that is all makes and models wherever produced.

Oh ok, so no one really knows then by the sound of it. I wonder how many that were made are still around, a lot I imagine. So are Allan Condie's books any good then? What are some good fordson books anyone can recommend?
