V5 is coming along for the major and am starting to look for a rear number plate holder, looked online and was unable to find 1 that I have seen on a friends major (he says is original) just wondering if anyone else knows of where they can be found or has made one similar pictures to follow.

Many thanks
Dan

There were no brackets for the Major plates, most dealers had their own way of mounting them so there are lots of different mountings out there.

Wonder if I could ask a supplementary question on this topic. Do we need to display a number plate both front and rear on a Major? Is there some kind of dispensation for the age of the tractor? Sorry. That's two questions! :run:

Thanks for your response brain will have to make one, another job!

Hi Adrian, to my understanding for all tractors, even modern ones it is only necessary to have a number plate present on the back of the tractor. I came across this information when looking on the DVLA website, hope this helps.

Many thanks
Dan

Hi Adrian, the picture above is of a friends Power Major '58' which has just recently been restored. My '59' Power major is below, bought few months or ago as a 'project to restore thinking it'll a light project which can then be used on runs, taken to shows and on used on the small holding'. Months later and ££'s later it resulted in many jobs being done and sill takling the rust.(But now really enjoying it)

Below is my friends Major as shown in the picture befor (with ENFO front weights and wheel weights)

Many thanks
Dan

Enjoying it is the key, Dan, and it's not difficult with these machines. Working on them is very satisfying because you end up with a mean machine when you put your spanners down! Your Power Major will do some serious work when you're finished. It looks like a very good example. Where is the tinwork? Was it rusted away? If so, you'll have to keep an eye out on eBay for the bits you need.
I've got a Super Major. Here are a couple of photos and a video showing the before and after stages of restoration.
Best, Adrian.
