I'm working on a neighbors Jan 54 Major with no excess fuel button on the injection pump, is there any trick to starting this thing or do you just crank on it till it starts?

Pat,

On some pumps, you pull the shutoff arm out over, away from the pump. This sets the extra fuel just like the button does.
I have two with a button, and one without and they all work well.

Richard is right, that is the early 8 stud pump, not inclined so the stop arm just pulls straight out.

Yup, you guys are correct!
Now I vaguely remember reading about this style, first time I have ever run across one.

Thanks!!

Thanks Adrian!
I got it together enough that it is now usable and had it outside in front of the shop the other day running to get it up to temp and check things over. I've found that it is pushing a lot of oil out the two front cylinders, the two that were clean when I pulled the head off. I'm going to cut some firewood and put it on the saw rig in the next week or two but I'm not sure if that will work it hard enough to get the rings to seat back in, I guess I will be finding out.

A hammer mill would warm her up, Pat.
