Another Raised PTO Q

Post by whirly »

I've never run a raised PTO before and cannot seem to find any service instructions so this may be a really dumb question but ... Since there is a seal between the rear end and the raised PTO housing, do I need to add lubricant to the raised PTO housing and if so how much?

The bearing itself on the raised pto shaft is not sealed, so the oil will flow through the bearing into the raised pto housing. -> You do not need to add oil to the raised pto. Maybe 2 litres of oil will flow into the housing, so if you are percise, you might need to add a little bit of oil to the back end.

Thank you for your insight. I did, however, find out that the bearing isn't a seal as I evidently did not use enough Gaskaseal on the mating surfaces and have a minor leak.
