Serial Number!

Post by billy »

This might annoy many of you! This question is asked a lot...kinda

I purchased an engine 2 weeks ago, I'm sure it major...it has an early style pump, however the rocker box is different to what I have seen. and with more looking the head is different as well.

The serial number was under the first injector so I'm thinking it later?

Does anyone know because I have never seen this type of serial number?

Thanks

That is either a truck or Industrial engine, picture of the complete engine would help and one of the rocker box. If it is held on by two bolts rather than six screws it is pre 1957.

That's what I was thinking Brian. It does have blue plaint though, so must have been in a tractor for a bit!

I'm working away this week so will takes some pictures on Friday/Saturday.

The rocker box has 6 screws around it.

The head has a flat face just forward of the exhaust manifold, near the thermostat housing. With two bolt holes in.

Fuel pump is pneumatically governed. The breather pipes are above the thermostat housing rather then below the head. Also the pump is upright, and I thought that was early engines.

Thanks
