Power major cooling

Post by wetters »

Hi
I am using my 1958 power major more often now ,only boat launching duties not real work, but have embarked on a cooling system makeover. I am unsure on the correct radiator cap to fit. Mine is not in good order. There seem to be two pressure version depending upon local situation. For the uk which combination of thermostat and cap should I use? Currently holding 1/2 way on the gauge so seems OK. :D

Hi Wetters

If the engine has not had the cylinders relined I was strongly warned against using the pressurised cap due to soft liner O rings letting go and filling your crankcase full of coolant, there was a thread on this and stats, have a search and you will find it - at sea level boiling point is not going to be a problem for you
