4A75S interchangeable with 4A70S injection pump

The diesel specialist has said my fuel pump isn't repairable but he said he had a reconditioned pump I could buy instead, he said it's the same just off the later model so my question is are they definitely interchangeable as the manual says not but I'm not sure if that's just because you need to time them differently?
Sorry for all my recent questions just want to get it back running!

All the pumps were interchangeable and will work except the Minimec and some of the really early ones.

Everything that was built after the modified engine should fit and you will notice no real difference. Timing is not an issue. Just time for your engine specs.

Thanks Brian so still time it to 26 degrees per the 70 pump not 19 like it says for the 75? I was worried there was some differences internally.

Here is the link to the timing data on this site taken from Ford Service manuals. No Major has a 19 degree timing setting. The only time this was used was on the Power Major with a very thin steel head gasket that lasted less than one year before it was changed back to a copper asbestos one, at this time the timing was reset to 23 degrees.

The thin steel gasket will not be found on any of our tractors, they were so unsuccessful they all got changed back in the day.
