NP Engine Rebuild

Hi how much would it cost to completly rebuild the engine on a NP Major?

That is a rather opened question. Really depends on how much is wrong with it and whether you are comfortable doing it yourself.

Besides parts, your next biggest expense will be machine work. If the crank needs grinding or the cam journals in the block are badly worn, you will need the help of an automotive machine shop, and a bigger budget.

Also, if the injection pump needs work, this is another source of increased expense, as few have the skills and equipment to properly service the pump.

So that said, it could range from a few hundred dollars, to a couple of thousand.

If you have some more details on the nature of your engine's needs, that would help to narrow down your required budget.

Hi i know its a black hole but i dont know whats wrong with it yet im waiting to hear i herd the engine going and its making a loud cracking noise

Just a wild shot in the dark, but some versions of the drive coupler for the injection pump are known to be notoriously noisy. More of a nuisance than a problem.

Could it be that?
